The PowerSens is a multi-channel signal conditioner that is used with any of Opsens’ SCBG (i.e. GaAs-based) fiber optic temperature sensors.  At the heart of the PowerSens is the Opsens’ Semiconductor Band Gap (SCBG) technology which provides a mean for making accurate measurements of the temperature-dependent bandgap of GaAs crystal.

The PowerSens is equipped with LCD display* and it comes with RS-232 and RS-485 output ports for real-time data acquisition. Both SCPI and ModBus communication protocols are supported.  SPDT-type relays and analog outputs are optionally available.  PLC controller is also available in option which offers extended control capabilities through a wide range of input/outputs.

The PowerSens has a channel sampling rate of 50 Hz and channel scanning rate of up to 6.25 Hz. It is used with 200/230 microns optical fiber temperature sensors (see for example Opsens OTG-T sensor models) and a version is also available for 62.5/125 microns optical fiber sensor models. With a ±1.5 °C accuracy (total accuracy including both signal conditioner and sensor errors) and 0.1 °C resolution,  the PowerSens delivers the performances needed for a wide range of critical measurement applications.
